Maoists should accept talk offer unconditionally: Left

Left parties in Jharkhand on Monday asked the banned CPI(Maoist) to accept unconditionally the offer of talks by the state government.

Left parties in Jharkhand on Monday asked the banned CPI(Maoist) to accept unconditionally the offer of talks by the state government.

There should not be any condition from any side to initiate talks, CPI, CPI(M) and other Left parties said.

Addressing a joint press conference here, CPI state unit secretary B P Mehta appealed to the Maoists to shun the path of violence and create a conducive atmosphere for talks.

Responding to Chief Minister Shibu Soren's offer for dialogue after he took over the reins on December 30, CPI(Maoist) had last week issued a press release setting a host of conditions, including lifting of ban on the outfit and release of their leaders from jail before any talks.
