He said he would focus on checking activities of these outfits and stopping smuggling of narcotics from Nepal to India.

Bakshi was the SSP in Gorakhpur and was promoted as the DIG of the range recently, while DIG Malkhan Singh was transferred as DIG of Devipatan.

Bakshi said a strong network would be developed in the division against activities of criminals and maintaining communal harmony in the division would remain his top priority.

Bakshi stressed the need for developing better coordination between Seema Sashastra Bal and local police to check Maoists activities on the Indo-Nepal border. He said maintaining law and order would remain the duty of the police.

He further said those who were helping criminals get bail would be under police vigil and police could lodge an FIR against them under Section 120B if a criminal on bail committed another crime. Bakshi said there was information that criminals were armed with AK-57 and other modern weapons. He said he would use the same strategy to defuse communal tension as he had implemented as SSP.
