Maps recovered from terrorist were made by Indian LeT operative

The Crime Branch claimed that it has clear evidence that the reconnaissance maps found on Ismail Khan, the terrorist who along with Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab had attacked Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Cama Hospital on November 26, 2008, had been prepared by alleged LeT operative Fahim Ansari, reports Presley Thomas.

The Crime Branch claimed that it has clear evidence that the reconnaissance maps found on Ismail Khan, the terrorist who along with Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab had attacked Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Cama Hospital on November 26, 2008, had been prepared by alleged Lashkar-e-Tayyeba operative Fahim Ansari.

Hindustan Times had first reported on November 30, 2008, that the terrorists had used maps hand drawn by Ansari after a reconnaissance operation. Goregaon resident Ansari and LeT Kathmandu commander Sabahuddin Ahmed had been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for their alleged roles in the attack on the CRPF camp in Rampur on February 2008. They were handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch in December 2008.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said: “From detailed questioning we have ascertained that maps found on Ismail are the same as those made by Fahim.”

Ansari had reportedly conducted a detailed reconnaissance of at least 27 vital installations including Hotel Taj, Oberoi, CST, BSE building and police commissioner’s office.

He had then transferred the photographs, maps and videos of his reconnaissance to top LeT operational commander Mohammed Muzzamil alias Abu Guerera through LeT Kathmandu commander Sabahuddin Ahmed.
