A married woman, who had fallen in love with her own biological brother and eloped with him over a month ago, has been "rescued" by police in West Bengal's Nadia district.
Acting on a tip-off, police found the woman in a vehicle near Bonga bridge in the district but her brother managed to escape, Deputy Superintendent of Police Prafulla Saha said.
The woman told police she had fallen in love with her brother and wanted to cohabit with him.
On Monday, she was produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate which sent her to a remand home as her husband, Shibu Dutta, refused to take her back.
Dutta had earlier lodged an FIR with Kotwali police station claiming that his wife, the mother of a 11-year-old son, was abducted by her brother Debasish Kundu of Ghurni village.
In the complaint, Dutta alleged that he had caught his wife in a compromising position with her brother at his residence and the two had been missing since then.
Police had registered a case of kidnapping against Debasish.
