India's biggest car maker, Maruti Udyog Ltd said on Wednesday that it sold 50,109 vehicles in January, up 3 per cent from 48,544 units a year earlier.

Maruti said it sold 48,526 units in the domestic market, up 7 per cent from 45,300 units a year earlier. Its exports fell 51 per cent to 1,583 units from 3,244 units a year earlier.

Maruti is 54.2-per cent-owned by Suzuki Motor Corp, Japan's largest mini-car maker.
