India's biggest car maker, Maruti Udyog Ltd, said on Monday it sold 63,196 vehicles in March, up 16 percent from 54,613 units a year earlier.

Maruti said it sold 61,141 units in the domestic market -- its highest ever in a month -- up 21 per cent from 50,693 units a year earlier. Its exports fell 48 per cent to 2,055 units from 3,920 units a year earlier.

Maruti is 54.2-per cent-owned by Suzuki Motor Corp, Japan's largest minicar maker.
