“Government officers have become spineless and they have even forgotten the civil service conduct rule under the present regime,” Mayawati said.

She clarified that her party funded her birthday celebrations and no government machinery was involved in the programme. Even the venue was outside the party office. Since it was the birthday of the chief minister, the officers came to wish her. Even the court dismissed the petition filed against misutilisation of government machinery for the celebration of her birthday, she said. Talking to the media persons at her residence, Mayawati termed the three years of the Samajwadi Party as ‘misrule’. “The development of the state is in reverse gear,” she said.

Continuing attack on the state government, she alleged that the government had failed on all fronts. “These days the government is on ventilator and to provide oxygen Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is making one announcement after another,” she said. “Today Yadav is more of a ‘Ghosana Mantri’ (announcement minister) rather than Mukhya Mantri (Chief Minister), she said and added that Yadav was committing the same mistake as was committed by Rajnath Singh.

Raising objection over the distribution of the Kanya Vidya Dhan and unemployment allowances by Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati said a wrong tradition was being set. Yadav should have directed the ministers and officers to distribute the cheques, she said.
