The BSP leadership has decided that measures would be taken so that no trader or government official is harassed and extorted for these celebrations.

Last year, cases of such collections had embarrassed the state government.

However, the chief minister's birthday (January 15) will be celebrated in every district headquarters, but the collection of funds in the name of donation to the party will be strictly prohibited.

According to sources in BSP, the administrative and police officers of the districts have been directed to pass immediate information to zonal BSP coordinators if they found any party activist or leader involved in collecting or demanding money.

It has been also decided to put the cellphones of BSP leaders and elected representatives on surveillance so that such cases are promptly dealt, they said.

All the zonal coordinators, who are also in-charge of the celebrations in their respective districts, have been instructed that they pass this message to all BSP workers.
