Notwithstanding the emphasis on upholding dignity and decorum at the two-day training and orientation programme organised for the new MLAs, the budget session of the state legislature commencing on Wednesday is likely to be stormy.

Chief Minister Mayawati would present the state budget for 2007-2008 at 11 AM on July 29, 2007. The state government proposes to move vote on account for a part of current financial year.

The state government also proposes to table on floor of the house the 17 ordinances that have been promulgated after the installation of the BSP led government.

The Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party have yet to announce a strategy for the coming session. The leaders of two parties have given indications that they would focus on the issues concerning people. As budget session is likely to continue for a month, the Bahujan Samaj Party appears to be in no mood to allow disruptions to continue.
