The OGCF-2006 has been organised jointly by PSU oil companies, GAIL India Ltd and Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) jointly to create awareness among masses on conservation of oil and natural gas. The fortnight from January 16 to 31 would also witness several other activities.

Addressing the session, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation, PS Venkateswaran said the demand of the people for fuel has been increasing alarmingly vis-à-vis scanty oil reserves. He also mentioned that the reserves of fossil fuels within the country were limited and that the government needs to import them, thereby leading to a large expenditure on these resources.

Various competitions were also organised on the occasion in which students and teachers from across the State participated in various categories. In the A category of class 10 students Somya of TM Convent School, Bhopal stood first for her essay on ‘ population and its effects on nature and natural resources’.
