The fast-food chain has managed to offset the disadvantage of limited offerings with a regularly changing menu of blandishments for children, birthday party packages and friendly service. For adults, the chain has very little to offer. Among its recent additions, the Chicken McGrill is smothered by the mint and coriander chutney that goes into it and the Chicken Maharaja Mac has just no personality. The vegetarian offerings are horribly deep-fried, though the Aloo tikki Burger continues to be a big hit.
On the positive side, there’s the hardy perennial, McChicken Burger, and the McCurry Pan is deservedly very popular. But the chain has got to do something about the thick tortilla-type bread of the paneer and chicken wraps – it’s so industrial that it’s devoid of any personality. Give us a roomali roti wrap any day. Among the new offerings, the cold coffee is our favourite.
