MCG, Huda pass buck as residents bear the brunt

Foul smell emanating from the waste is creating a problem for residents in the area.

The residents have alleged a nexus between the contractor and authorities. “The contractor had agreed to remove the garbage the next day, but it did not happen. We have informed both Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and Huda officials,” said Joginder Pal Yadav, a resident.

However, officials of MCG and Haryana Urban Development Authority are passing the buck to each other.

Huda estate officer (EO-1) Narinder Singh Yadav said, “I have no idea about it. I will ask my staff to report to me immediately. Action will be taken against the culprits.”

“The garbage is dumped in the Huda sector, so it is their responsibility to get it removed,” said Dr Aruna Sangwan, sanitation in-charge, MCG.

Vigilant Sector 10 residents on Thursday night tried to prevent dumping of garbage ‘illegally’ in the vacant plot. They also seized five truck-trolleys. The residents claimed that one of the trucks had MCG written on it. “Contractors mint money by lifting the same waste twice from the two different sites. This practice runs under a big nexus,” said a senior MCG official on condition of anonymity.
