McGrath's manager Warren Craig said the seam bowler would seek an advise from national selectors before taking a decision to play for a month with an English county.

"We'll talk to the selectors about whether it might be best for him to play a month of county cricket before then," Craig said was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.

Australia lost to England after 18 years in Ashes 2005.

McGrath, who is currently taking a break from international cricket after his wife was diagnosed with cancer, is the most successful fast bowler in Test history, having taken 542 wickets in 119 matches at a cost of only 21.5 runs each.

The 36-year-old, who has played for Worcestershire and Middlesex in the past, is likely to prefer a county stint in the latter part of the summer.
