MCTE TEAMS won the volleyball and tennis titles in the inter-CTW triangular sports meet which concluded Friday at the Military College of Telecommunications Engineering (MCTE), Mhow.
The MCTE team won the volleyball final beating MCEME by 26-24, 25-18 and 25-22. Sandeep Kumar of the MCEME was declared ‘best volleyball player’.
Rahul Hermon of the MCTE won the gold in tennis defeating A K Gupta of the CME. CTW Commander, Mhow Col Rakesh Kaul distributed the prizes to the winners of volleyball and tennis events.
MCEME team won the hockey final defeating MCTE team. A K Solanki was declared the ‘best hockey player’. The officiating commandant of MCTE Maj Gen G S Aulukh distributed the prizes of hockey.
Young Blood Championship
THE FIFTH Young Blood Championship (YBC) will start on December 12 at the shooting ranges of Infantry School, Mhow. The championship is organised every year to select young soldiers (new recruits) for induction into the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU).
Lt Col K M Upadhyay said here that 39 teams from all the regimental centres and paramilitary forces would participate in the championship. About 1,300 shooters are expected to participate in this competition.
The Army Rifle Association is conducting two shooting competitions this year—the first will be of 10-meter air rifle and air pistol competition for officers in which lady officers will also take part. Officers securing first, second and third position will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals along with cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,500 and Rs 2,500 respectively.

Part I will comprise of 5.56 mm INSAS rifle and part II of 9 mm browning pistol match. The INSAS rifle will be conducted in prone, standing and kneeling positions.
