The MDMK Thursday expelled two of its MPs, L Ganeshan and Gingee Ramachandran, from the primary membership of the party for voting in support of the Congress-led government in the parliamentary trust vote.

"The two members violated the three-line whip to vote against the government and hence have been removed," MDMK general secretary Vaiko said in a release.
Ganeshan and Ramachandran had claimed to represent the real MDMK - a claim rejected by the Election Commission.
Vaiko had requested their disqualification by the Lok Sabha but in vain.
