MDMK to try disqualifications of rebel MPs

The MDMK would seek the disqualification of two of its MPs who defied the party whip and voted in favour of the confidence motion moved by the PM in Lok Sabha.

The MDMK would seek the disqualification of two of its MPS who defied the party whip and voted in favour of the confidence motion moved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

L Ganesan and Gingee Ramachandran, the two dissident MPs had defied the whip and voted in favour of the motion and the party whip C Krishnan would soon write to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee seeking their disqualification, party sources in Chennai told PTI.

They said that party leader Vaiko has already informed Chatterjee about the activities of the two MPs. Now that they defied the whip, they attracted disqualification under the anti-defection law, they said.
