AFTER CO Chowk Rajesh Sahni, it was the turn of CO Traffic RN Singh on Wednesday to face the ire of the high and the mighty. Senior IAS officer Brijendra Yadav’s son humiliated Singh in full public view at Hazratganj crossing when the latter stopped his vehicle fitted with red beacon light. The drive against vehicles flouting traffic norms was in top gear when a youth, who was driving a red-beaconed Ambassador car, was spotted beating up a rickshaw-puller a few yards away from the crossing around 5.30 pm. Seeing the rickshaw-puller’s plight, Singh and others present ran to his rescue.

When the youth was confronted, he reacted furiously and shouted at the CO, “Mr RN Singh in camerey walon aur patrakaron ko yahan se hataiye. Mai aapse cell par contact karunga. Phir bhi aapko zarurat mehsoos ho to FIR likhwa kar mere paas copy bhijwa dijiyega (ask these cameramen and journalists to go away. I will contact you on your cell and if even then you feel like lodging an FIR, send me a copy of it).

The youth identified himself as son of senior IAS officer Brijendra Yadav. The car (UP 32 BG-0741) in which the youth was moving had ‘Adhayksha, Satarkata Ayog (Chairman, Vigilance Commission) written on it.

However, the youth started running away leaving his father’s car when cameramen of some electronic channels started recording his act on camera.

Meanwhile, the wireless sets of the traffic cops flashed a message about a black Scorpio (UP 32 6615) blowing hooters on Park Road. Though the vehicle, which carried a ruling party flag, could not be traced, the cops found out that the number it carried was actually allotted to a motorcycle.

Several other vehicles with beacon lights were found flouting norms. While the cops managed to remove some of them, some were allowed to go for reasons best known to the cops.
