"Twenty years ago we had only one electronic media -Doordarshan. Today we have 100 channels. No channel is an exception where we will not find which heroine is marrying whom, scandals are exaggerated and blown out of proportion. That's the lead story," Azad said.

"No priority is given to development in the 100 channels. What we lack most is to tell the people the achievements of the government," asserted the minister speaking at a seminar here on 'Immunity 2010' organised by the NSUI Assam chapter.

"Huge amount is spent for Bharat Nirman by the UPA government to reach out to the village and inaccessible areas in the last five years. Unfortunately not a word on it from the channels as construction is not their priority. It seems the nation is on fire and there is goondaraj," Azad said taking a dig at the channels.
