The co-ordination meeting of the representatives of five premier medical colleges will take stock of the situation in the wake of Friday's police action against them and the token strike by resident doctors.

Before the core group meeting, the student leaders will also meet representatives of resident doctors of the five medical colleges to review the strike situation and to chart out a joint action plan.

Hundreds of striking medical students had on Friday hit the streets to protest the Government's proposed move to hike OBC quota in reservation for Central Universities and elite educational institutions.

They blocked traffic at several places in the busy Connaught place and India Gate area and clashed with police when denied permission to march towards the Prime Minister's office before courting mass arrest.

The students from LHMC, AIIMS, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) had rallied under the banner of `Youth for Equality'.
