Meet to discuss farmers? problems

THE XXXIX National Agricultural Chemists' conference under the auspices of the Indian Society of Agricultural Chemists, University of Allahabad will be inaugurated in the auditorium of the National Academy of Sciences on November 27.

A symposium on 'Water availability and Chemical Agriculture in India' will also be held on the occasion.

Prof Dr SK De, Ex-director, Sheila Dhar Institute of AU and the chief organising director of the meet informed that the conference will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of AU Prof Rajen Harshe while Prof Dr DK Das, former head, Division of Agricultural Physics, IARI, New Delhi and an eminent scientist will be the chief guest on the occasion.

"About 125 delegates from different parts of the country are expected to participate. Dr PK Banerjee, ex-director of Agriculture, Himachal Pradesh will preside over the conference which will be for two days at the Sheila Dhar Institute of Soil Science, Allahabad," said Prof De.

Prof De said that Prof Dr Sant Singh, ex-head of the department of Soil Science and Agricultural chemistry and ex-dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, BHU, Varanasi will be awarded the 'Scientist of eminence Gold Medal and certificate Award (2006)' on the occasion too.
