Meeting to discuss City buses on Jan 13

INDORE CITY Transport Services Limited (ICTSL) will commence public transport operations in the City this month provided it has a fleet of minimum 20 buses at hand by January 20.

In all three out of 33 buses have arrived here so far from Tata fabrication unit at Goa. The company will hold a crucial meeting on January 13 to discuss the status of bus operations.

ICTSL chairperson and Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma is expected to preside over the meeting. ICTSL project in-charge and SDM Chandramauli Shukla said that the company was working to evolve pass system and obtain ticket vending machines from Bangalore besides calling advertisements for display on buses.

The tenders, already floated, will be opened on January 17. Besides, five-day training will be held for bus staffers (two drivers, two conductors and cleaner) between January 20-25 on code of conduct and other technical details.

The bus operators have begun recruitment of staff whose uniforms have been decided. The uniforms will match the colour of the bus.

Meanwhile, Shukla is expected to leave for Mumbai this week to gain first hand information about the bus operation management there.
