Instead of clusters of small tents in Gopalganj, Saran and Siwan, the government plans mega relief camps, each housing 2,000 people. Such camps will be set up in Gopalganj within the next four days.

The mega camps, for which areas have been identified, would also have medical camps. Doctors and medical supplies with dignity kits for women were being mobilised in the affected districts.

“We expect the camps to be operational up to 15 days because we expect the Gandak to recede after September 22,” said a disaster management department official.
