Corporation invites gobal tender
THE UP Rajya Vidyut Utpdan Nigam (UPRVUNL) will set up two mega power sub-stations, one each at Anpara and Unnao, to transmit electricity on high-voltage. Flow of electricity on high-voltage helps reduce transmission losses.
The corporation has already invited a global tender by inviting private companies to set up the 765 kv sub-stations in response to which two Canadian companies have applied. The corporation has further extended the date for filing of the tender till October 16.
Last week a team from a Canadian company met power officials here at Shakti Bhawan.
The company offered to services as a consultant for preparing the detailed report of the projects, besides doing other related work.
Canadian companies are said to have an expertise in transmitting high-voltage electricity to distant places. Rich in hydropower, Canada transmits electricity to countries like the US.
According to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Managing Director Avnish Awasthi, who is also Managing Director of Utpadan Nigam, there are only two sub-stations of 765 kv capacity, one at Sripat in Andhra Pradesh and another at Seoni in Madhya Pradesh set up by the NTPC and the PGCIL, respectively.
He said setting up of high-capacity transmission sub-stations was especially necessary because of more power flow from the proposed 1,000 mw Anapara D thermal powerhouse, in future.
