The identification parade, to be undertaken in the presence of a magistrate as per the requirement of the law, would be official and form part of the court records, SHO Hazratganj police station DK Ram said.

Rawat, identified by the driver of the Bhargav family, had earlier confessed before the media that he had shot at Meher on February 28 but later retracted from his statement in the court.

Meanwhile, police had intensified its efforts to nab Sachin Pahari, the prime accused in the Meher Bhargava murder case, sources said.

Police would be conducting forensic examination of the thumb impressions of Pahari as recorded in the jails where he had been lodged earlier.

Special task force sources here said the forensic examination of the thumb impressions would make it clear whether Pahari and Amit Singh were the same person, as claimed by the police.

Pahari had been lodged at jails in Lucknow and Allahabad earlier in connection with other offences.
