When it comes to the dating game, a new study has found that women know exactly what they’re looking for, and it takes them as little time as under 30 seconds to make up their minds about potential partners.
The survey, by Prof Richard Wiseman, of the University of Hertfordshire, at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, involved 100 single people ‘looking for love’, who took part in 10 speed dates each, while rating the attractiveness of their dates, and indicating whether they wanted to meet that person again in the future.
As per the first results of the 500 speed dates, the researchers found that it was women and not men, who made snap decisions.
The study found that 45 per cent of the women decided on the fate of the date in less than 30 seconds, while only 22 percent of the men made up their minds in the same amount of time.
The results, Prof Wiseman said, showed that men had only a few seconds to impress women, and that men were not as shallow as thought.
“Men are often accused of being shallow and judging women very quickly. However, this evidence suggests that women may make up their minds much quicker than men. It suggests men have only a few seconds to impress a woman, thus emphasising the importance of their opening comments,” the Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

{{/usCountry}}The study also found that women were twice more picky then men when it came to wanting to meet dates again, for on an average, women wanted to meet two men again, whereas men wanted to see about four women again.
