Justice RS Ramanathan also ordered the police on Thursday to register a case of molestation and take action against those responsible for it.

The woman was recently found in a semi-conscious state by residents of nearby Tirumangalam. They admitted her to a hospital from where she was discharged after being given first aid. But the woman was molested again later.

Justice N Kirubakaran of the court read a media report on July 7 about the incident and brought it to the notice of a senior judge, who ordered filing of a suo motu case.

During the hearing, Government Advocate submitted that the woman, who belonged to Kurangukadai near Munnar, was admitted to a home for women. As she could not speak in Tamil or English, police had problem in understanding what she said.

After obtaining a medical certificate, they should get orders from the magistrate and admit her to a home for the mentally ill and find out from Munnar Police whether the woman had any relatives there.
