Mercury rises in Orissa, 10 dead

At least 10 people have died of sun stroke in Orissa where the maximum temperature has crossed 42 degrees Celsius in parts of the state.

At least 10 people have died of sun stroke in Orissa where the maximum temperature has crossed 42 degrees Celsius in parts of the state, an official said on Sunday.

An official of the state revenue control room confirmed the deaths to IANS.

Jharsuguda town in western Orissa recorded the highest 43 degrees Celsius temperature on Friday. The town witnessed 42.2 degrees Celsius Saturday.

The maximum temperatures recorded Saturday were in Bhubaneswar, 39.4 degrees Celsius, Cuttack 40.5, Chandbali 39.6, Keonjhar 40.2, Sambalpur 41.2 and Hirakud 41.0 degrees Celsius, he said.
