According to contactmusic.com, Streep plays an ice queen persona in the film. She plays fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly and set her self aside from other actors just as her character does.

Streep said: "(Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt) were always having a party in the corner, and I couldn't join in. It was sort of a lonely position that I staked out for myself, but it paid off ultimately."

Hathaway added: "She really isolated herself from the rest of us. It wasn't method acting. She didn't ask me to get her coffee - which, by the way, I would have done. But she warned me about that in the beginning. She said, 'I think you're going to be great, but this is the last nice thing I'm going to say to you.' And it was."
