MANAGEMENT GURUS would now teach the art of political management in the 21st century to politicians. Politicians belonging to different parties would soon take a special course being designed by IIM-L Prof Debashis Chatterjee, which aims at making them better leaders.
Before the course formally starts a special workshop on ‘leadership quality’ would be held. In this workshop, political leaders would be asked to give their feedback on how to make the course better.
Disclosing this on the inaugural day of the two-day Lucknow Management Association’s (LMA) workshop on ‘Arising the Leader in You — Create Your Own Future’, JK Kharbanda management consultant of LMA said that workshops of the type organised by LMA were required for politicians as well.
Kharbanda said talks would soon be initiated with political leaders of the BSP, SP, and the Congress etc. A study would also be undertaken on what makes some political representatives retain their MLA or MP seats time and again while others find it difficult to do so.
The LMA workshop on Monday focused on developing a positive mindset among the government officials and non-government organisations. “We are also trying to make them understand what effective leadership is all about,” Kharbanda said.

{{/usCountry}}Swami Muktinathananda, president of Ramkrishna Math inaugurated the workshop. He spoke about the need for channelling one’s energies in a positive direction. He said the role of religious leaders had become more important than ever before in the present times.
The workshop, attended by officials from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC, Forest Department etc focused on specialising in one’s area of work. Dr Ritu Narang explained to them what positive leadership was all about. Examples of steel king, Laxmi Mittal, famous religious guru Morari Bapu and Yoga guru Baba Ram Dev were given to the participants.
Dr Narang explained that each one of them had specialised in their area and went on to become role models in their respective spheres of activity.
