An earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale today hit Jamanagar district of Gujarat, officials said. "An earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale was recorded at around 4:30 pm, in Jamanagar with its epicentre being at Lalpur taluka of the district," Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) official said.

The tremors were felt by the residents of Sanada and Machiliwad village of the district, they added.
The walls of few old buildings in these villages developed crack, GSDMA official said. However, no casualty was reported, he added.
