Unidentified militants exploded a powerful grenade in the private rnterior Bishenpur district but no casualty was reported, official sources said on Tuesday.

The minister was not present in the house at the time as he stays in his official residence at Babupara in Imphal.

The militants hurled four powerful grenades at Loken's private residence at Leimapokpam area under Nambol police station midnight on Monday night but only one exploded damaging a small portion.

They fired at least 10 rounds before escaping, the sources said adding the unexploded grenades were recovered by the police on Tuesday and defused, the sources said.

Police said investigations were on to find out whether there was any monetary demand by the militants from the minister which led to the attack.
