Mindless violence
Apropos of the report Christmas in Orissa: 2 churches set on fire (December 26), the attacks on churches in Orissa warrant stern action against the offenders. The fundamentalists do not know any religion. Violence shreds the social fabric. With crimes plaguing society, death sentence is the only deterrent. As a rule, one who takes a life forfeits his own.

this has reference to the report Taslima can come: Basu (December 26), veteran CPI(M) leader Jyoti Basu rightly welcomed Taslima Nasreen to return to Calcutta. There is no room for communal politics in India if the country wants to stay intact. But like charity, morality begins at home. What the CPI((M) did in Nandigram, or to Taslima Nasreen is playing the communal card for garnering votes.

Defying predictions of all exit polls and anti-incumbency factor, Modi has pulled off a surprise win. The development work carried out by his government has yielded results. The Congress’s rout in Gujarat will put the nuclear deal in cold storage as the Left will again raise its voice against it.
