Mining mafia attacks 5 forest officials

Five forest officials had a narrow escape on Sunday night, when they were attacked by limestone mafia. The incident happened at Mannal village on the Satuan-Renuka road, about 80 km from here.

Five forest officials had a narrow escape on Sunday night, when they were attacked by limestone mafia. The incident happened at Mannal village on the Satuan-Renuka road, about 80 km from here. Sources further added that the driver of one truck (HP 17-7457) laden with illegal limestone attempted to hit the officials when they were trying to stop the vehicle.

As per as the information, the mafia was regularly involved in illegal mining in Dhak Pipali beat at Satuan. The forest department had constructed a wall to prevent the mafia from mining along the roadside, but the mafia made a separate lane to continue mining.

Those who had a narrow escape are deputy rangers -- Surat Singh Tomar and Tulsi Ram and forest guards -- Sunil, Inder Singh and Rajinder.

On the other hand, the Rajban police have impounded tow trucks indulged in illegal mining in the area. Forest ranger Ram Chander of Kaffota confirmed the incident.
