At a time when a dozen new faces enter the industry every day, competition only gets tougher. While talent is subjective, one can't deny the importance of the luck factor in helping a newcomer not only get a good break, but also follow it up with a couple of interesting films. The pretty Minissha Lamba, who debuted with Yahaan last year, is one such girl.
Despite not doing well commercially, Yahaan got its share of acclaim and recognition for Lamba, as she says, "The going after my debut has been alright. I did the film because the subject interested me. Whatever happened after its release is a bonus."
And a decent one that too, with films like Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate and Farhan Akhtar's production helmed by debutante Reema Kagti. Ask her the basis on which she chooses her film and she answers, "First, my role has to interest me, then the screenplay, followed by who is directing the film, the producer and the rest of the cast."
That Bipasha Basu plays the lead in the boardroom-based Corporate doesn't deter Lamba. "I am playing a management trainee in the film, where Bipasha is my mentor, friend and confidante. She is a thorough professional on-screen and a wonderful and warm person when the camera is switched off. She would have us in splits with her jokes making the working atmosphere very comfortable and easy."
Lamba is excited about Aktar's production, for which she's shooting in Goa. "When I heard the script and my role, I instantly knew it was a good movie to be a part of. Besides, Reema is a fantastic director, clear about what she wants and how." Despite it being a story of six couples, Lamba is "confident of being noticed for my role has scope to perform." Lamba will also be seen in Suresh Krishna's Rocky - The Rebel, where Zayed Khan plays the title role.

How does it fit into her scheme of things? "I love the character I play in this complete laugh riot." "Currently I'm just focusing on my career," she says before you can ask if she's hiding her man from the media. She looks forward to "doing some good work. The rest will follow."
