Ministerial perks for 17

In a bid to consolidate his support-base and numerical strength, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday gave ministerial rank to 17 functionaries, mostly MLAs who have been appointed chairmen, vice-chairmen, administrators and advisors in various corporations, boards and departments.

In a bid to consolidate his support-base and numerical strength, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday gave ministerial rank to 17 functionaries, mostly MLAs who have been appointed chairmen, vice-chairmen, administrators and advisors in various corporations, boards and departments.

Chief Minister’s decision came before the election to 10 Rajya Sabha seats for which an open voting would be held for the first time. Besides, election to Vidhan Parishad seats will be held.

Those who were offered the posts included the Bharatiya Janata Party’s unattached MLAs who have proposed name of an independent candidate for one of the Rajya Sabha seats.

As per the list released on late Thursday evening, ministerial rank was given to five while 12 were given minister of state rank. Those given rank of a cabinet minister included Surendra Mohan Agarwal who was given the post of Chairman UP Development System Corporation. He also remains Economic Advisor.

Harmohan Singh becomes Chairman Avas Bandhu while Harbansh Sahai becomes Chairman UP Poultry and Livestock Limited. Narendra Bhati becomes Advisor to Agriculture department while Raj Kumar Rai becomes Chairman UP Rajya Beej Pramanikaran Sanstha.

Anil Kumar Verma was appointed Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute while Daya Shankar Verma became Advisor to Uttar Pradesh State Planning Commission. Mahendra Singh Verma was made Chairman Uttar Pradesh Pashudhan Vikas Parishad while RD Pal becomes Chairman Uttar Pradesh Rajya Shram Sanvida Salahkar Board Kanpur.

Ramagya Chauhan was appointed Advisor to UP State Planning Commission. Arun Shankar Shukla was appointed Administrator UP Sahkari Avas Sangh Limited. Om Pal Singh Nidar became Chairman UP Nagrik Parishad while Ram Swaroop Singh was posted as Chairman UP State Sugar Corporation. Anil Rajbhar also became Advisor to UP State Planning Commission while Abdul Rab became Chairman UP Ganna Shodh Parishad.
