Ministerial team from Bihar leaves for Assam

A high-level delegation comprising three ministers and two top officials from civil and police administration left for Assam on Saturday to take stock of the situation following the ULFA carnage.

At least 31 people, mostly Bihari labourers, were killed on Friday in violence triggered by the banned ULFA terrorists.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the delegation would comprise Nand Kishore Yadav,Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Janardan Singh Sigriwal (all ministers) besides IGP (HQ) Anil Sinha and additional Home Secretary Jitendra Kumar.

A red alert had been sounded throughout Bihar to check any reprisal of the Assam incident and district authorities had been asked to maintain special vigil on the trains rolling to and from the Northeast via Bihar and provide adequate security to train passengers.
