MINISTER FOR prison Rakesh Verma and high-profile Cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh ‘Raja Bhaiyya’ today visited expelled Samajwadi Party MLA and mafia don Udaibhan alias Doctor at the Lucknow district jail.
The ministers issued directives to the prison officials to take care of the ‘comforts’ of the don before leaving the jail premises. The don is lodged here for last few months. The ministers visited the jail soon after attending the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s programme at Ambedkar ground. It was around 1.30 pm when fleet of the influential ministers followed by over half-a-dozen vehicles entered the jail premises.
While Raja Bhaiyya and Verma went inside the jail without getting their names entered in the register, the jail staff ran to intimate senior officials about the visit. Senior jail officials, who too were deputed at the Ambedkar ground, soon rushed to the jail. The ministers, however, went to the jail’s hospital where ‘Dr’ Udaibhan is staying. The ministers had a chat with the don and inquired if he was getting all ‘facilities’. The mafia complained about lack of a mosquito net and proper sanitation around his bed.
Besides, the don also sought help of his ‘friends’ regarding other facilities.The ministers immediately issued orders to the jail officials to follow directives of the ‘VIP’ inmate and ensure that the latter did not complain about anything during their next visit.
