With reference to the report Muslims in UP not minority (April 6), the Allahabad High Court judgment is a milestone in correcting the policy of pseudo-secularism we have been following for so long. The distinction between minorities and non-minorities on the basis of religion runs contrary to principles of secularism.

Many political and legal luminaries have stated that the Indian Constitution has created religious minorities and the courts cannot change that. Hypothetically speaking, if some day the Muslim population becomes more than 50 per cent, would they still be considered a religious minority?

Vote them out

Kudos to the BJP for scaling new heights with the controversial CDs and hats off to the UP government for fuelling communal mistrust. It is high time the voters should make the politicos realise the real power of public mandate.

Growth vs inflation

The canard that growth is leading to the rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer is spreading fast. Tampering with gro-wth to control inflation will be a self-defeating exercise. Anybody would prefer inflation with a job rather than deflation without a job.
