Minors rescued in Gurgaon

The Gurgaon Police have rescued two minor girls, one of whom was trafficked from Jharkhand and kept captive by a family in Sector 56. The other girl is mentally retarded, reports SK Ahuja.

The Gurgaon Police have rescued two minor girls, one of whom was trafficked from Jharkhand and kept captive by a family in Sector 56. The other girl is mentally retarded. The raids were conducted with the help of an NGO.

Their ordeal did not end here as senior officials kept them and the NGO staff waiting for almost the entire day for paperwork before sending them to a shelter home.

According to Chandan Kumar of NGO Child Line, Sushila and one more girl (name not known) were spotted roaming around at Subhash Chowk by a stranger on August 24. He took the girls to the Sadar police station.

“Assistant sub inspector Rajinder Singh handed over the girls to us. Sushila said she was from Ranchi and was brought to Gurgaon two years back by a man and sold to a household in Sector 56. She alleged she was not paid even a penny and was kept as captive," Kumar said.
