Like in all developing countries, Indian cities can't afford sophisticated state-of-the-art water treatment facilities. And water pollution is very much a reality in this city of two million. This documentary shows how the initiative and ingenuity of local fishermen of Kolkata has become a success story. A simple filtration process makes the dirty sewage water flow through a series of man-made ponds and canals which are full of naturally occurring algae and hyacinths that cleanse the waste water.
