Talking to newsmen here on Thursday Mishra said, “I have information that Jaiswal is making efforts to protect Pathak’s killers. In his endeavor, he is making full use of his clout as union minister.”

CP Pathak was shot dead at Nai Sadak during the 2001 communal riots.

“The Samajwadi Party (SP), with the help of mafias, could resort to large-scale booth capturing in Etawah, Mainpuri and adjoining districts,” Mishra alleged. He demanded deployment of central forces in these areas to ensure a fair poll. “We would send a request in this regard to the Election Commission,” he said. Mishra also accused Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav of violating the election code of conduct.

He termed the development activities carried out by the State Government as area specific. Mishra also accused the Congress and the SP of resorting to politics of appeasement on the issue of Afzal Guru’s death sentence.
