Sagarika Ghose’s article Shhh… Muslim! (August 3) fuels religious divides and fundamentalism. If Muslim after Muslim walks to his death, don’t they do so because of their part in the wanton killing of innocents? If Hindu after Hindu is sent to death in the riots case, will it mitigate the role of the Muslim perpetrators and will justice then be served?

Why should anybody sympathise with criminals who belong to no religion? Is sentencing those behind the 1993 Bombay blasts wrong? How can you equate a planned, organised and cold-blooded bomb blast with emotionally charged and spontaneous act of communal riots in which both communities — Hindus and Muslims — had participated?
