THE STATE Government’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) began a probe into the case regarding missing cashbooks containing details of transaction worth over Rs 4 crore from the Protocol Office in Vallabh Bhawan.
DG EOW OP Garg said the investigations began. The suspects will be interrogated and once relevant documents with clinching evidences are found and examined, the case will also be registered, he added.
The incident had come to light around two months back and a case was registered with the Jehangirabad police regarding the theft of cashbooks and files of the last six years from an almirah.
Besides, IG Sanjeev Singh had led a team of Crime Branch officials and conducted an inquiry. The officials and employees of the Protocol office were quizzed and search was also conducted.
However, nobody could be held responsible owing to lack of evidence. Subsequently, the case was handed over to the EOW. Now the EOW began collecting documents and interrogation of the suspects would begin.
EOW officials say that the time frame for investigation could not be specified as pace of investigation will depend on the seizure of incriminating documents.
