The civic body has decided to raise the danger level of Mithi river from 2.7 metre to 3 metre after the BMC authorities has taken several measures to improvise the situation.

"The danger level mark of Mithi river will be re-defined as it does not pose any danger at 2.7 metres as conditions have changed and there is no need to worry," said Additional Municipal Commissioner, R A Rajeev.

"With the widening of the river, retaining wall of eight metre been built on both sides, soffit (underside) of bridge near Kranti Nagar raised to 3.1 metre from 2.7 and removal of hutments the river does not pose any danger at 2.7 metre," he said.

The river in suburban Kurla had earlier this week crossed the 2.7 metre danger level following heavy rainfall, thus creating panic among nearby residents.

"A formal notification for the same will soon come out," Rajeev further said.
