Besides, an AU student leader with criminal antecedents, the other target included the brother of another MLA.

The aim behind getting the brother of this MLA eliminated was to lessen the influence of the MLA in his area.

The trans-Yamuna MLA wants to contest the upcoming assembly election from the targeted MLA’s constituency. Minus the brother the MLA will hardly be having any criminal backing and hence winning the election would be easy, said DIG Akhilesh Mehrotra while making the above veiled revelations during an exclusive conversation with HT Allahabad Live. He said, the MLA’s brother is a criminal.

By getting him murdered the MLA from trans-Yamuna and originator of this diabolical plan would have removed the stumbling block and got things easy for himself. But the plan has been nullified following the chance murder of a head constable by a member of Babloo Misra gang member, said the DIG.

The trans-Yamuna MLA is being helped in his murderous manipulations by another MLA who has considerable influence over the Babloo Misra gang. Nearly all the players in the field have criminal antecedents while some belong to the ruling state party others are from the opposition, added the DIG.

The trans-Yamuna MLA is involved in another murder which had taken place way back in 1994. The case is still hanging fire.

Meanwhile, police officers appear to have been divided in dealing with one of the accused Pradeep Tripathi who was nabbed in the murder of the head constable.

He is reported to have sheltered some of the members of Babloo Misra gang and also lent his motorcycle which was used by the criminals at the time of the head constable’s murder.
