Chandrakala (Chanda) Vadiya, the 21-year-old daughter of Phoolchand Vadiya, had reportedly approached the NGO headed by Vijaya Pathak with an affidavit alleging ill-treatment by her brother Narendra for not wanting to get married and continuing with her studies.

“Chanda called me over telephone sometime back to narrate her ordeal and urged me to rescue her, following which I went to Nalkheda late last night and rescued her,” Pathak told reporters at a TV channel’s office
here today.

Chanda was also present there. When asked why did she not raise the issue with the girl’s parents and what prompted her to flee, Pathak alleged that Chanda’s brother was a ‘dangerous’ person and had “created a lot of terror in the area”.

Even her father, the MLA from Susner in Shajapur district, and other members of the family were afraid of him, Pathak claimed.

Both the MLA and Narendra were unavailable for comment, not responding to phone calls.
