IN YET another case of terror let loose by ruling party activists, Monu Singh, brother of Isauli MLA Sonu Singh, forcibly got freed three accused from Kurebhar police station last night.
The three accused Rakesh Kumar Pradhan, Ghanti Lal and Ram Sagar were arrested yesterday for brutally attacking one Rajesh Mishra at Majhwara village under Kurebhar police station a couple of days back.
The accused, who were in the Kurebhar PS lock-up, contacted the MLA’s brother Monu Singh , block pramukh Dhanrajganj, and complained to him against constable Yawar Ali, who, they said, used foul language against the MLA.
At 2.30 am, Monu Singh, accompanied by about 45 supporters, arrived at the police station and started abusing the SO. His aides, meanwhile, traced Yawar Ali and thrashed him mercilessly. Ali had to be hospitalised in a serious condition.
Monu Singh then got the three arrested prisoners freed from the lock-up and left for his village Maing along with his entourage.
On Thursday, superintendent of police AK Tiwari, accompanied by ASP Suresh Rana and a large police contingent reached Sonu Singh’s house in Maing village.
The DM and the DIG also accompanied the police force. The SP asked the MLA to hand over Monu Singh and the three criminals to the police.

When the MLA refused to do so, the police entered the house and searched for Monu Singh and the other three. Though the three criminals were arrested, Monu Singh managed to escape from the scene.
The news spread like wild fire in the area and soon about 400 people turned up outside the MLA’s house and started throwing stones on the police party to prevent the arrests. Several cops were injured in the incident. The police had a tough time in controlling the mob.
