LOCAL POLITICIANS, including MLAs have alleged that satta goes on unchecked in most parts of the district under police protection. They registered protest before minister in-charge of the district Himmat Kothari saying that police should put an end to rampant satta, which was tarnishing their names.
Depalpur (BJP) MLA Manoj Patel raised the issue at the end of District Planning Committee meeting held here on Thursday and said the police should take immediate steps to check the menace. “Satta goes on unabated in at least 10 places in my constituency.
Those sattas are operated in my name. I must have made 100 complaints in this regard, but the police don’t act. There is another problem linked to it. When satta players run short of money, they steal and theft incident graph goes up,” he said.
Assembly segment one MLA Usha Thakur and Mhow (Congress) MLA Antar Singh Darbar joined in the protest along with Mayor-in-Council member Chandu Shinde and said that satta racket was going unchecked in the absence of stringent measures. As the protests grew, Kothari demanded to know why no steps were being taken to bust the racket.
