The departments— Bio-Chemistry, Gastroenterology, Dental and Skin and VD which got 'mistakenly' omitted in the list of Departments in the Statute Clause 14 (6) of the Act— will be reincluded once the AU Executive Council members give their assent at fourth meeting of EC scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

The EC will also consider the recommendations of the steering committee for increasing research facilities at the medical college and provide more funds for the development of basic facilities at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital affiliated to the medical college.

The varsity's Executive Council is expected to formally give the green signal to re-include four medical college departments.

The EC may also consider the Steering Committee's proposal of putting MLN Medical College (MLNMC) and Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH) under the direct administrative and academic control of the University with adequate Central funding. The Steering Committee, at it's meeting held on September 22, 2006, had suggested that Unitary Administrative Control is must for the proper development of the institutions which may rise to the level of AIIMS, in future.

Members of the Steering Committee had suggested that in order to raise the standard of both MLNMC and SRNH to the standard of national level institutes, the research facilities which have been negligible due to lack of funds, must be raised in progressive manner. "Requirements of each department must be assessed and a Professional Visiting Committee should be appointed at a later stage to decide the necessary grant for each department," further suggested the Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee also decided that for efficient academic and financial functioning of the College and the Hospital, the existing pattern followed by two Central Universities (BHU and Aligarh Muslim University), KGMC prior to its integration with the Medical University, SGPGI, AIIMS and Delhi Medical University, be obtained and studied for deciding the new pattern of governance.
