Police cane-charged the enraged protesters who stoned 7 cars and 13 buses and also targetted a police station in the area resulting in minor injuries to a few policemen, police said.

The situation was now under control, they added.

The civic authorities initiated the action following a court directive asking the PMC to demolish illegal structures affecting smooth flow of traffic at congested places.

Three persons have been arrested and about 100 cases have been filed against the miscreants, police added.
